pathways for planting & revitalization
church planting internship
church planting residency
Designed for those with experience planting churches and/or serving through the local church.
If you have experience planting or leading and would like to join with Perkinsville’s efforts to plant and revitalize in northwestern NC / northeastern TN, you may be able to begin very soon with some customized coaching.
“Bivocational” church planting is when you have employment and choose to plant a church at the same time. Your vocational commitment provides you the funding you need to live and an outlet to express your desire to see a new church planted.
Revitalization, however, is the partnering with a “legacy” or existing church that needs to find their place in God’s gospel mission. This work is the commitment to leading a dying church back to life. Although it is some of the most difficult work to be done, it is often also the most rewarding.
Designed for college students and bivocational professionals desiring to revitalize or plant a church in the North American context.
The Church Planting Internship is a one or two year internship where you work with a local coach who guides you through the process of learning more about church planting while you serve the local church in a specific ministry assignment.
The curriculum is the North American Mission Board’s (NAMB) Church Planting Pipeline. Homework and assignments are required with bi-monthly meetings with your coach. When this training is finished, you will have a greater understanding of what church planting looks like and if it is a fit for you. If it is a fit, you will be ready to start with the process of becoming a church planter through NAMB.
The internship includes scheduled trips to serve alongside church planters in North America.
Designed for those with a missional spirit who desire to see churches started in homes, gyms, offices, and even dorms.
The Church Planting Residency will equip you to plant a church in any context (locally or globally). Open enrollment available in August of each year. The Residency begins in January of each year. This two-year commitment trains you in church planting following a simple and reproducible strategy that is used globally. Trainings take place at Perkinsvilleeach week with a cohort of other residents.
The first year you will learn the basic structure of making disciples and church planting. By the second year, you will lead trainings throughout the region and take part in the church planting movement. The Residency is part of our strategy to see no place left without a gospel presence.
